Hand in Hand: Empowering Families in Ireland

Welcome to Hand in Hand, a compassionate Irish charity dedicated to supporting families facing the challenges of childhood cancer. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to provide practical and emotional assistance to families during their most difficult times.

What We Do

At Hand in Hand, we understand that a child's cancer diagnosis can turn a family's world upside down. That's why we offer a range of vital services designed to alleviate the burden and stress that cancer brings. We provide practical and emotional support services to families affected by a childhood cancer diagnosis, nationwide-

Practical Support

Hand in Hand works with local service provides to arrange practical supports for families including:

Household Cleaning Services

We work directly with cleaning companies across the country for professional house cleaning services. Families can receive monthly cleaning services for the duration of their child’s treatment.

Laundry

We work directly with laundry providers local to families so they can use their services on a bi-weekly basis for the duration of their child’s treatment.

Family Meals

We partner with a national supplier that provides high quality and nutritious meals endorsed by paediatric dieticians and consultants. Families can pre-order their meals and organise delivery at times that suit them best. This service is available to families for the duration of their child’s treatment.

Emotional Support

Play Therapy

Play Therapy allows a child time and a safe space to play out and express their feelings through their most natural method of communication - play.

Sessions are available for children diagnosed or their siblings, aged 3 to 12.

Depending on location, sessions are provided by Hand in Hand’s accredited Play Therapist, Denise Gordon, or arranged through our network of qualified and experienced external Play Therapists.

Sessions are confidential and are only disclosed in line with child protection procedures.

Counselling

Counselling sessions are available for children diagnosed aged 13 to 18, siblings and parents/guardians.

Sessions are arranged through our network of qualified and experienced external Counsellors..

How Your Donation Helps

Your generous donation directly impacts the lives of families in need. It enables us to provide critical financial assistance, ensuring that families can focus on their child's recovery rather than worrying about the financial strain. Your support also helps fund transportation services, making it easier for children to access life-saving treatment.

Moreover, your contribution allows us to expand our emotional support programs, providing guidance and counselling for families dealing with the emotional challenges that childhood cancer presents.

By donating to Hand in Hand, you become a lifeline for these families, offering hope, comfort, and a brighter future. Join us in making a difference today and be part of a community that empowers families and spreads love and hope throughout Ireland.
